Morgan and Colin’s love story began during their senior year of college, she a student at Saint Mary’s College, and he at the University of Notre Dame. Upon their engagement, it was all but a foregone conclusion that they would choose to marry at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, on Notre Dame’s campus. They wanted a wedding that was formal, traditional and classically elegant that included many meaningful details. Beginning with a color palette of deep emerald, gold, blush and ivory their vision began to take shape, resulting in a celebration that truly reflected their love of family, Notre Dame, and each other. Their reception was held in the historic Palais Royale in downtown South Bend, IN. Among the many details that graced the reception were custom monogrammed guest napkins, peach scented candles as a nod to Morgan’s Atlanta roots, and Colin’s grooms cake which replicated the marquee on the legendary ballpark of the Chicago Cubs in his hometown of Chicago. The grooms beloved Cubs would go on, a few weeks later, to win the 2016 World Series! After a night of dining and dancing, a 1950 Studebaker Land Cruiser waited at the corner as guests sent the couple off into their happily ever after with a sparkler farewell. The evening was capped off with an after party at Rohr’s inside the Morris Inn, back on the campus of Notre Dame.

In June of 2013, the city of Chicago lost its collective mind when their Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. That same night, Beth and Mike met while out watching the game with friends in the West Loop area of the city. They celebrated the win that evening and just a bit over three years later, their friends and family gathered at the University of Notre Dame to celebrate their marriage! After securing their wedding date at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, they set out to create a day that would be romantic, and elegant as well as fun! Beth wanted to work with a color palette of soft blush, green and ivory with touches of gold. Her vision combined classic looks with an eclectic flair that translated into a modern fairy tale feel. Mike, a Notre Dame alumni and former football player arranged a golf outing the day before the wedding at Warren Golf Course on campus for his groomsmen, while Beth arranged a spa day for her bridesmaids. Dressing for the ceremony in the historic Notre Dame football locker room, Mike and his groomsmen then walked across campus to the Basilica. Beth and her bridesmaids arrived by trolley, that would later take the entire bridal party back to the stadium for some on field photo shenanigans. Arriving at their cocktail reception, the marquee above the entrance to the Morris Performing Arts Center congratulated the new Mr. & Mrs.! Guests enjoyed cocktails under glittering chandeliers in the lobby of the Morris theater, and later dined and danced the night away in the opulent ballroom of the Palais Royale.

ReenAnn and Michael met and fell in love in Texas, got engaged in Ireland and married at Notre Dame. Guests came from near and far to witness their marriage, which took place in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, where ReenAnn had attended college. Michael, a native of Canada and former professional hockey player was delighted to see the Canadian flag hanging in the Compton Ice Arena while on Notre Dame’s campus, and even more so upon learning they could host a welcome party for their guests there the evening before their wedding. ReenAnn wanted to work in tones of silver, platinum and pewter with accents of mercury glass along with a floral palette of white and ivory to evoke a simple, but sophisticated atmosphere for the wedding. Calla lilies, a favorite of ReenAnn’s were used through out the wedding, and to great dramatic effect at the reception where they were highlighted with pin lights. Even though it was unseasonably chilly on their October wedding day, everyone basked in the glow that shown from the newylweds.

Laura and Bill envisioned their mid December wedding to be elegant and sophisticated, yet full of creative touches that gave their guests an idea of who they were as a couple. Characterizing the look and feel they wanted to achieve as ‘winter glamour’ with just a touch of vintage, they decided on a color palette of burnished gold, platinum and the softest blush pink. Bringing their guests to the Midwest in December is a gamble with the weather, but they could not see themselves marry any other place than the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. The couple met at an MBA Welcome Weekend event on campus, at the Eck Center, which is where guests gathered between the ceremony and the reception for champagne and holiday music provided by family members. The reception was held at the historic Palais Royale in downtown, South Bend, IN. The evening was full of personal details such as the use of the brides’ parents’ cake topper to a customized gingerbread house on the candy buffet.

On a perfectly clear and crisp fall day, Greg Rogers and Danielle Patzner married in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. Danielle envisioned, a chic, sophisticated color palette of ruby and charcoal for her late autumn wedding. Not wanting to use conventional fall elements, the bride chose to pair thistle and succulents with orchid and mini callas, the results of which were nothing short of stunning! Watch for these motifs throughout this beautiful Notre Dame wedding!
The campus of Notre Dame in all its golden, fall glory!
The cocktail reception took place in the gorgeous lobby of the Morris Performing Arts, followed by dinner and dancing in the historic Palais Royale ballroomm in South Bend.
Vintage postcards depicting the campus of Notre Dame (on the reverse side) served as escort cards. Gift envelopes were gathered in this darling vintage suitcase provided by the mother of the bride.
We, at Celebrated Events were thrilled to be chosen to help Danielle & Greg plan their wedding, in Notre Dame, IN and South Bend, IN.
Wedding in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, on the campus of the University of Notre Dame, surrounded by the love of family and friends, was the perfect way for Molly and Mark to begin their married life. The reception that followed, at the Palais Royale in downtown South Bend, IN held delightful surprises as well as thoughtful details. As I began the wedding planning process with Molly and her mother Kathleen, I knew I was in for something special – as it turns out, so were all of the guests who attended this magical celebration.
Much of the event’s design direction was lifted directly from the custom invitation’s colors and patterns. We used the design motif from the patterned paper throughout the event, see if you can spot the various elements we used it on!
Molly and Mark chose to see each other before the ceremony, and where else would they meet, other than the Grotto, where they paused to light a candle together.
Spring flowers perfumed the aisle! These pew markers were later transferred to the Palais Royale and used on the back of the bridal party’s chairs – see a photo of this application below!
In lieu of a favor, a charitable donation was made to the Center of Social Concerns, at the University of Notre Dame. We love the presentation! The guest napkin was fashioned into a rosette, with the message printed on ‘leaves’.
This shelving unit served multiple purposes! It helped divide the cocktail space from the dining area, and held images of their parents, grandparents and great grandparents on their wedding days! On each side are the gowns that Molly and Marks mothers wore when they wed – I love this image of the bride and groom – Molly in her wedding gown, standing next to her mother’s wedding gown.
Re-purposed pew markers! Can’t you just smell the hyacinth? Nothing says spring like the scent of hyacinths!
At the end of the First Dance, the centerpieces exploded with fireworks, a surprise and tribute to the brides father, who, every fourth of July wonders why he isn’t arrested for the excessive fireworks display he puts on!
Can you believe the amazing work on this cake? Taken directly from the paper used in the custom wedding invitation! Gorgeous!
Happily ever after starts now!!

Tina and James chose to marry at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. They met in the fall of 2003 as freshman in Italian class, and seven years later, brought their relationship full circle, by tying the knot where it all began! Guests, for the wedding, came from as far away as Caracas, Venezuela, where the bride spent much of her childhood, so incorporating elements that reflected her background was important to her. Chocolate bon bons, hand carried from Venezuela by her Mother, served as the guest favor. A Latin salsa band delighted and entertained guests during the reception, and the evening was topped off with a custom called ‘cotillion’. Guests were invited to don feathered masks, top hands, shake maracas, blow horns and join the conga line in this custom that feels like a combination of Mardi Gras, New Years Eve and a Masquerade Ball!
